PINK is delighted to present Forlengelser, a work at the intersection of choreographic work and exhibition, bringing together the choreographic practice of Rannei Grenne and the visual and spatial practice of BUTCHER & CORREIA.
Emerging from Grenne’s long-standing, continuous dance practice and expanded through sharing with others, the work considers what it means to stay with a practice over time: to repeat, attend, question and allow it to change through contact with other bodies, materials and ways of working.
Forlengelser begins from the idea that dance and choreographic practice are political acts in themselves. This politics is located not only in the act of dancing or making art, but in how the work is made: how a process moves, how it is structured, what choices are made, and how the artist relates to the practice over time. Rather than offering fixed answers, Forlengelser creates a space in which these questions can remain active. How does our inner logic shape what we do? What systems and habits guide our choices? What place does the body occupy, and what forms does it take or create? How might the structures we experience within our own bodies connect to those operating through society and the systems around us?
The work turns inward to the body as a way of looking outward, using bodily attention as a way of relating to what surrounds us. In a culture shaped by speed and continual demands for production and growth, Forlengelser returns to weight, contact, sensation, repetition and presence. Grenne’s commitment to sustaining a performing practice for more than ten years becomes a form of resistance: an ongoing reaction to the demand to continually produce something new. Repetition does not mean returning to something unchanged; each return carries what has come before while opening the possibility of another choice, another relation, another form.
Around Grenne’s moving body, BUTCHER & CORREIA extend the work through costume, material, scenography, sound and visual gestures. The practice reaches outward like tentacles from its starting point, carrying the choreography into the room — its objects, surfaces, architecture and audience — and allowing the work to take form through the relationships between them. A movement reaches another movement. A body reaches a room. One practice reaches another. What begins as an attention to the body becomes an enquiry into relation: how things touch, affect, organise and alter one another.
Forlengelser was first produced at BABEL in Trondheim in 2025, an artist-led organisation with which PINK has had an ongoing partnership since 2023. Its presentation in Stockport continues that relationship, allowing the work to move between places, organisations and contexts — extending through the structures and relationships that allow the practice itself to continue.
