Join us on for the launch of Testament, a sculpture exhibition by Maeve Thompson, Victoria Mehr & Bertie (bear) Thomas.
Time & Location
01 May 2024, 18:00 – 21:00
PINK, Hilton House, Lord St, Stockport SK1 3NA, UK
About the Event
Testament crosses territories of memory, folk histories and sentimentality; with an emphasis on individual practices rooted in woodwork, casting and textile. Testament is an ode to the once familiar corners of childhood homes, a tribute to sworn secrets, and traded stickers; a song for the passing places of country lanes, and the bolder optimists staring directly into the sun.
The exhibition launches on 1st May (6-9pm) and will then be open by appointment until 7th May

Artist Biographies
Maeve Thompson (b.2002) Looe, Liverpool, Manchester.
Maeve is an Irish artist and writer working across sculpture, field notes, and installation. Her sculptural practice is underpinned by a considered use of salvaged material, and defined by a desire to visualise and unite a fragmented diasporic identity. In Testament, her work negotiates themes of trace, recollection, and attachment.
Victoria Mehr (b.2000) Kent, Hamburg, Dungeness, Manchester.
Victoria’s work is built of the experiences and memories of her Anglo-German identity. Her memory box series, displayed here in Testament, is inspired by similar boxes made throughout her life by her mother. These tactile archives interrogate the tension between the sentimental and habits of consumerism; the pink plastic ephemera of a noughties girlhood. Lying somewhere between is the sanctified status that these objects acquire, along with the nature of their origin and (destination).
Bertie (bear) Thomas (b.2002) Anstruther, Liverpool, Manchester.
Bertie is a conceptual installation artist working primarily within textile and craft. Their work explores folk identity, intimacy, and interactions with the rural landscape. Here, in Testament, their work brings together these individual factors in a collective visual dialogue that showcases natural materials and distinctive minimal design.
