About the Event
Mistakes in the Sea is a new group exhibition featuring three UK-based Hong Kong artists—Carrie Shen, Raymond Wong, and Dennis Ngan. Opening on 9 May 2025 at PINK in Stockport, the exhibition will run until 15 May, with daily opening hours from 12–5pm.
Curated by Carrie Shen, the exhibition draws its inspiration from Milan Kundera’s reflection on lítost—a Czech word that captures the sorrow caught between grief and regret. Through a range of mediums, including photography, video, sound installations, live writing, and performance art, the artists explore the emotional landscapes of migration, memory, and miscommunication. These works emerge from moments of rupture—missteps, migrations, and fractured narratives—where the personal and collective become intertwined.
At its core, Mistakes in the Sea asks:
What went wrong?
What was lost?
How did it happen?
