Following the success of John Renshaw: A Retrospective in 2025, this exhibition brings together a selection of works from that exhibition alongside previously unseen pieces from the artist’s archive.

John Renshaw is a painter and educator whose work has been exhibited across the UK. Alongside his painting practice, he taught generations of artists through his roles at Stockport College and the University of Chester, where he was a senior lecturer, Head of Department and later Professor Emeritus.

Drawing sits at the centre of Renshaw’s practice. His work explores invented forms, spatial relationships and shifts in tone, with images developing through the process of making.

Painting, teaching and talking about art have shaped Renshaw’s life and the lives of those around him. His children grew up surrounded by his work and describe his commitment to art as all-consuming.…
