Trying to write (or re-write) your artist statement?

This workshop will focus on how to write about your work in a clear and accessible way, with practical exercises to try during the session. It will offer some tools you can use to confidently talk about your practice in different settings, from exhibition texts to in-person interviews.

You’ll have a chance to delve deeper into your work and extract the essential ideas you want to communicate to your viewers. We will cover the basics of what an artist statement should include, take a look at artist CVs, and see why you don’t have to use complicated ‘art speak’ (unless you want to!). There will also be a chance to discuss the more elusive aspects of the process, like getting over writer’s block.
